The Black Sheep

Oxford Downs Cricket Club has a key ambition which is “to encourage the playing of the amateur game of cricket.”  Whether you love cricket because of it’s unique history, it’s balance of team and individuality, the morals and spirit that the game stands for, the stats , the social side or something else we believe that cricket is a game that should and can be played by as many people as possible.

The Black Sheep were set up as an invitational side to play games at the ODCC ground, but the invitation extends far and wide!

The aim of the team is to play relaxed cricket in a very friendly and social atmosphere in good company, light the BBQ, have a  drink and properly enjoy the long Summer Friday evenings.

Players comprise complete beginners to the game of cricket, we always hear “I am interested but haven’t played since school” (don’t say this unless you want to play) to a few current players from ODCC sides.  Ability, Age, Gender etc  is irrelevant just a desire to join in and have some fun.

We will aim to raise 22 players on the first Friday of the month in May, June, July and August to play a series of 20/20, Big bash Style games.  In addition to this we have our main event of the year the 6-Aside Big Bash on the Sunday 26th August 2018.

As ever we are looking for teams of 6 to play each other throughout the day.  If you are interested in playing any Friday evening Black sheep cricket please just contact Keith.  If you would like to enter a side for the 6 aside tournament please do let us know.
