Oxford Downs is an ECB Clubmark accredited cricket club and is committed to providing a high standard of Junior Coaching to boys and girls across all age groups.
Our winter coaching program takes place on Sundays from 1:30 pm to 3 pm at Abingdon School Sports Hall (for directions click here). All girls and boys in these age groups are welcome. Cost is £5 per session.
Our Summer Junior Coaching evenings are on Wednesday evenings, registration will be from 6:15pm and sessions will start promptly at 6:30 pm
The U11 fixtures (both friendly and league) commence in May and are played on Sunday Mornings.
The U13s also commence in May, and matches are usually played on weekday evenings.
U15 matches are played throughout May and June usually on Monday evenings.
U15s will also be welcome to attend Senior coaching evenings which are usually held on Tuesday evenings.
We believe in providing the best cricket coaching possible for our junior players and we will restrict our membership numbers to ensure they they receive this. Priority will be given to those with 2015 membership. Where appropriate we will keep a managed waiting list for prospective junior members.
For existing members and those who have received membership forms, forms and membership payment must be received by Friday 1st April 2016 to guarantee your child’s place. After this date, we will be considering admitting new members from the waiting list.
Parents are welcome to attend all training sessions and competitions. We are keen to try and involve parents in the activities of the Club. If there is some activity or function you feel you would like to contribute to please contact the Chairman, Tom Welch
We appreciate it, if children can arrive promptly and are collected promptly at the end of the session. Parents of all children up to and including U15s are responsible for supervising their children from the stated closing time of the training sessions. If you are going to be late picking your child up, please contact the relevant Youth Team Manager and let them know.
For the safety of your child it is important that the Club is informed of any changes in contact details or medical information. If you would like to talk to someone about this information or your child’s involvement with the Club, please contact the Club Welfare officer, Natasha Coates.
