A word from the Captain

Darryl Woods

The Second X1 is really looking forward to getting the 2021 campaign off to a good start, we fully realise that we are in a very strong league with Sandford St Martin, Challow, Bledlow Village, Shipton, Wolverton, BNOCC, all first X1s, and very strong 2nd X1’s of Buckingham, Aston Rowant and Horspath (clubs that have their first teams in the HCPL), so it is going to be very competitive. Apart from the ageing skipper we have a very young team and we are looking forward to seeing the development of players such as Ethan, Ollie, Kalan and Henry.
With the powerhouse of Lakey, and the hitting of Ellwood, Dunn, Ling A, Ling B and then bowling of the evergreen Rivett Roberts, Bello and the fresh-faced Selby Lowndes, the seam dept looks strong and has some depth.

We are looking to consolidate our position in Div 2 and who knows with a fair wind and a good start you never know what might happen, one thing I know for sure we will be prepped and ready for action and I firmly believe will compete in every match. One goal that we have already outlined is to be one of the best fielding units in the Division. I also welcome Alex Ling as my vice-captain and I wish him every success this year, especially as it is his final year at Uni.

Here is to a full season and one that means we can get cricket back to some form of normality would be brilliant and that we can enjoy a drink at the bar to toast all the successes of individuals and the club will have on and off the field.
