A hot day full of local cricketers, Standlake residents and general beer drinkers! Cumnor, who are currently top of Division 1, came to Downs slightly nervous due to our devastating wins in the past 4 weeks. George won the toss and elected to have a bowl. Once again the attack of Law and Sutton was superb. This time Harry taking the wickets but Jonny bowled 8 overs for 8 runs, which in a 40 over game is outstanding. Cumnor skipper Alex Davies batted sensibly to stabilise the innings. Watts and Costley battled away with no luck but didn’t give away too many runs. Rafiq and Meardon came on to bowl for a flurry of spin, with Amin picking up two wickets crucially to bring in two fresh faces. Watts then came back on to take a couple for himself which left Cumnor at 160 for 8 off their 40 overs. Freddie Smith and Frankie Crouch opened up the innings. Crouch unfortunately was bowled early on which brought in Rafiq. Both Rafiq and Smith batted sensibly by keeping wickets in hand. Smith was then stumped after not managing to get his back leg back but a mature and promising innings from the 15 year old. Alex Ling joined Amin but with no real luck as he departed fairly shortly afterwards. Captain Sandbach decided to send himself in next after a change in batting order. The game was looked poised for a close game but both Amin and George put them to the sword with some aggressive batting. Sandbach reached his 50 with a six over mid wicket and Amin shortly after with more well placed shots. George hit a massive six over the scoreboard for the win and Downs, in the end, won comfortably with 8 overs to go by 7 wickets.  ODCC will now play Langford in the final on Sunday 10 June 2018 at Langford.
