Downs won the toss and elected to bowl

Downs got off to a cracking start with Tom Costley getting a run out first ball of the innings with a direct hit from covers. However this didn’t slow Buckingham down as they were scoring at least one boundary an over not allowing our openers Jonny Law and Tom Costley to settle.

Buckingham lost wickets at regular intervals but scoring at a fast pace meant that they never lost momentum and finished up on an impressive score of 246-8 off 53 overs.

Downs got off to a bad start with Chris Sandbach being dismissed for 10 before Skipper Mehmood came in to partner up with Alex Ling. Both looked great scoring at about a run a ball for 10 overs before Alex ling was given an awful LBW decision considering he’d clearly hit. However the bad luck continued with Waz being given run out when the keeper had failed to dislodge the bails. Alex Ling (41) Wasim Mehmood (32). This begun a collapse with George Sandbach, James Elwood and Tom Costley all failing to reach double figures.

Henry Sensecall and Ben ling put up a great partnership before Henry was caught out on 23. Downs mission quickly changed to try to salvage some points from this game and this came via a marvellous knock from Ben Ling of 34* got us the extra batting point at 190 before Downs were restricted to 191 for 7 off of 47 overs.

A disappointing performance for a team that have  been in great form but again they are only human. Non the less still 17 points clear at the top of the table and looking forward to getting back on track next week against the Nondies away.
