So the weather is set fair for the weekend and we have two big games coming up at Oxford Downs. Today from 1:00pm our first team are playing Great Tew at home. Both sides won their opening games last week and both have an eye on promotion this year, so the result could be significant at the end of the season. Tomorrow we have the next round of the Village Knockout at home to Tiddington – also starting at 1:00pm.

Whilst the weather has got in the way of things this week I wanted to say what a great first official week of the season we had last week. More than 30 seniors and U15s were at nets training last Tuesday – more than I have seen for many years. Wednesday night’s junior session, was buzzing and difficult to get in the car park (more on that in a minute) and then the first Black Sheep night of the year on Friday was fantastic, with so many new faces there, I hope having a great first experience of cricket at ODCC – long may this continue.
In terms of Wednesday I want to say thank you to all the people that have come forward and said they can help with the coaching. If you would like to help it does not matter what your cricket experience is please just let me or Meg know. In addition I said that we were looking for another qualified coach and we have been lucky enough to find New Zealand cricketer Lauren Down to be with us every Wednesday. We now have 5 qualified coaches as well as 6 helpers volunteering to makes these sessions a success – let’s hope the weather stops messing things up.
