As is now customary, I lost the toss and we were put into bat. Despite looking comfortable against the Abingdon bowling we quickly lost both openers (Toby and Harry). Ian Caunce again played a valuable innings adding 44 with Matthew Young to take us to 118-6 when Ian was out for 67. Matthew then played excellently through to the end of our innings reaching 62 n.o., ably assisted by some sweetly struck boundaries from our last man, Swiley (25…….that’s runs, not age!). We were all out for 203 from 42 overs. Abingdon’s innings started with accurate opening spells from Rob Owen and Matthew Young that combined with cautious batting from the openers. After 17 overs, when we took our first wicket our opponents had only reached 47. Unfortunately we twice dropped catches to dismiss their best player, who went on to score 61. Swiley joined the attack and claimed 3 wickets for 33 from 9 overs. Abingdon completed their overs on 159-7, leaving us with a winning draw and 19 points. Another enjoyable game, thanks to all those who participated and supported.
