On what could almost be described as a perfect day for a game of cricket, round 2 of the 2016 village knockout competition saw the arrival of the mighty Tiddington at Oxford Downs. Tiddington won the toss and decided to bat first. The opening pair managed to put on 10 runs before Jonny Law took his first wicket, which was ably caught by Ben Ling. Tiddington dug in for a while but eventually succumbed to some fantastic bowling, Jonny Law taking 6-23 in 9 overs and were all out for 118, not bad for his first game of the season.

The Downs reply saw Waz and George Sandbach start at a canter but unfortunately they were not able to repeat Saturdays quick start, Waz falling for 17 and George for 6. Thankfully Will Watts (33 not out) steadied the ship and Eric the run machine was back on form scoring 58 not out, a great reply to the previous day’s golden duck (sorry, was I not supposed to mention that again Eric?!) On to the next round where we will meet Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts, It was great to see so many supporters enjoying the afternoon at the ground – see you at the next game.
